Lower Expectations!

People keep asking how we are adjusting, and I am quick to admit that while over all while we are doing well, we have lowered our expectations and have a lot of help right now.  I know that I am not living in real life yet!  All that I am currently doing is taking care of kids.  Our church is helping with laundry and meals.  Friends, family and neighbors have also been wonderfully generous!  Last week Jordan came home from work and said "Wow!  You got dressed!" and I thought "If that is all that I have to do to be impressive these days..." At the beginning of this week I decided one of my goals for the week should be to find the counter tops in the kitchen.  It only took me two days.  Jordan came home Monday night and noticed the little two foot area I work so hard on.  That recognition was enough motivation to keep me trying on Tuesday.  When he got home last night he praised me for the clean kitchen and asked "Have the kids been taking really good naps this

Elise's 2 Week

Elise had her two week appointment today.  The doctor likes to give me a hard time about being an "old young mom" as opposed to a "new old mom."  He says that he can tell from the moment that he walks in the door who he is dealing with because the old young mom can smile despite the lack of sleep (the new old mom thinks she is going to die by this time!) Elise weighed in at 7 lbs 15 ounces (45%) and was 21 inches (75%).  If I was more put together I would see where that line up with the others.  It was a pretty uneventful appointment because everything looks good.  (So nice to have an uneventful appointment since by this time I knew something was wrong with Reuben.)  He asked a lot of questions about her sleeping habits and wants me to watch that she doesn't get her days and nights mixed up.  Last night was much better than the last three nights with her getting up twice and then starting my day off at 5:20.  Yes, that is early and I don't want to do that

Faces!

Wonder why you didn't get a Christmas card from us this year?  This was the best shot...(sigh) One of our Christmas Traditions: Movie Monday Morning.  It is fun that Jonah and Audrey are starting to remember things from year to year. He has a new obsession with hats.  It makes him look so tough. Audrey, Elise and Violet Cousins!  (I hope this is not a hint of what is to come!  Violet looking all sweet and innocent and Elise being a little stinker.  Pretty cute little tongue though!) One of my favorite outfits!

She is here!

Elise Corinne Vos was born at 10:19pm January 2nd.  She was 7 lbs 10 ounces and 20 inches long.  Jordan's fever broke at 3:00am on Sunday morning and never came back!  We tucked the kids in bed at 8:00pm and like clockwork contractions began. Things again went very quickly for me, but all is well even though the hospital staff was not quite ready for her!  (Jordan and I have joked that we don't think we should have to pay full price since we practically delivered her ourselves!) We will have to stay in the hospital until tomorrow night because I was GSB positive but didn't have enough time to get antibiotics.  They don't suspect any problems but want to monitor her for close to 48 hours .  The kids have been up to visit her.  The boys could have held her forever.  Audrey thought she was pretty neat, but just as neat as the Sprite she got to drink from a Styrofoam coffee cup!

A Race to the Finish

People have been sending me messages curious how things are going so I thought I should send out a little update.  Jordan and I are currently in a race to see what will break first: his fever or my water! Last week Audrey started in with a little virus that caused a high fever and headache for about a week.  This week Jordan has had it.  Fever, headache, cough...he hasn't even checked his email so you know he is miserable!  My edd was Wednesday.  It has been crazy being due so closely to Christmas.  The midwife really didn't think that I would make it through, but I did.  I am very uncomfortable and was told Wednesday that I am nearly a 4 so she is not really sure why I have not had this baby yet.  She said maybe just 48 more hours.  I have exceeded that prediction as well.  She also said that Jordan cannot come until he is fever free with no meds so I need a different plan.  I do not want to have this baby without Jordan so my first plan has been to sit at home and keep thi
