Tonsils and Adenoids Fixed

Today was the big day! Our day really started last night. My mom came up so that we didn't have to haul Reuben and Audrey anywhere so early in the morning. Not that they were not up before the crack of dawn, but it was awesome not worrying about them. Thanks Mom!  Before bed I read the booklet that the doctor had given Jonah explaining what was going to happen. He seemed unphased and asked me to read it again. Then came the night. He came in our room around 1:00am asking if it was time to go. Jordan climbed into bed with him a little after 3:00 because he still was awake and very worked up!
We got to the surgical center at 6:30 and we were done with paperwork, taking back to meet the Dr before 7:00. They wheeled him away at 7:15, his lip quivering. I managed to keep my tears hidden from him! They had him wear the "space mask" right away and then they put in his iv. I was so thankful that we didn't have to do the iv awake! The Dr came to find us a little before 8:00 to tell us that he was finished, and Jonah was doing fine. His comment was that he had forgotten how big Jonah's tonsils were! They brought us to the recovering room around 8:15, and I just got to hold him while encouraging him to drink. He was so tired, but managed a smile when he realized he had cable. They dismissed us at 9:30. Jonah squeaked out that he wanted to go to another hospital (that boy loves cable) so it must not have been too rough for him!
His voice sounds like he has been sucking helium! It is so high right now.  The doctor told us that it might be a little airy. We are used to a little spitty. He has even commented that he "sounds funny!" Despite the codeine in his Tylenol he has not slept a wink since coming home. He is on DVD #3 now and enjoying his pudding and ice cream.
If the last couple hours are any indication the challenge of the next couple weeks will be keeping Jonah resting and keep Audrey pacified. She is feeling left out. We may be tag teaming a lot of errands with her. (And we may have to hide the Mighty Ducks DVD because it is inspiring a want-to-be hockey player to get off the couch!)

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
