Happy Birthday Reuben!

I cannot believe that Reuben turns one this week!  I was looking through pictures and said to Jordan "Long nights, but a short year!"  Aunt Tori gave him his first haircut this week and now he looks like a little man.  I started to get a little sentimental about it, but it was actually short lived.  (Jordan is encouraging me to look a little more "glass half full"!)  Here is why I am happy to have a one year old:
  • I know my baby so much better than I did a year ago. I know his personality and a few of his opinions!
  • He can communicate more effectively.  It helps to meet a baby's needs when he can tell you directly.
  • A summer with a 1, 3 and 5 year old sounds exciting.  Swimming and walks, we are going to have a good time!
  • Fewer all nighters!  He is doing so well with his nights!  He is more of a Jonah napper, but hooray for the nights!
Reuben is working on his walking skills.  He took is first baby steps this week.  I would not call him a walker yet, but he wants too so badly.  He runs around the house with his little walker and is so happy to be able to get where he wants.  He gets into all of Audrey's stuff, much to her dismay!

Reuben's acid reflux has really calmed down.  We are going to the chiro about once a month now, and also let him have a paci more than I would normally let a one year old.  It helps him swallow more and keeps the carpets cleaner!

I am gearing up for a dairy free birthday cake!  I think that I am going to try to make a farm cake.  If it is any good I will post a picture!

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
