Garlic Oil Ear Infection Drops

A few people have asked for the recipe that I used this winter for ear infections.  I bought it at first, but then got this recipe from a friend.  (Thanks Christine!)  I know that this looks a little crazy, but antibiotics weren't working for Reuben and this did!  The only down side was that he always smelled like he just ate at The Olive Garden.  (He is either going to love Italian or hate it when he grows up!)

1/4 cup olive oil or sweet oil
4 cloves garlic finely minced
Put in a pan on low heat and let warm for 15-20 min ~ the idea is not to cook the garlic but to release the oils.  Strain into a jar (preferably glass-I just used a baby food jar) and let cool. Drop 2-3 drops in each ear 2 or 3 times a day and put a small bit of cotton in the ear. Should clear things up in a day or two. The mixture will keep in your fridge for 3 - 4 days then you will need to make a fresh batch.  I don't put cold oil in the ears, but warm it up in a hot water bath first!

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A "Spring" Field Trip

This morning when the kids woke up I told them to put on short sleeves because we had a surprise field trip. We met Gramma B and Gramma Great at the Botanical Center and got to pretend it was spring!   By the orchids   Lovely Lady (She has been waiting for short sleeve weather so that she can wear this sweater!)     Grandmas and the kids   Look at the fish!   Me and my babes!     What is this?      This inside of the fig   He looks as disturbed as I was to find out that they throw out the plants in the two themed beds every 6 weeks!  (We kind of wanted to take them home!)   Not sure if this is the wall's intended purpose!     What a great brother!   Group shot!

A little Reuben update

I took Reuben in for his 4 year today.  Last year...36 lbs 36 inches.  This year 39 lbs 39 inches.  73% for weight and 22% for height.    The nurse said "Buddy, you are a square!"  We knew that already. He got referred to an allergy Dr.  On the one hand he is too young to start allergy meds (unless he starts not being able to sleep-then he'd be looking at shots.) but knowing what he is allergic to could help us make better decisions for him (watch pollen counts, tell Jonah there is no dog in his future, etc.)  Looks like it is time to start figuring our how to get him to take apple cider vinegar!  (Sigh...)
