Thankfulness

I listened to a really convicting broadcast this week on being thankful so this week I will try to highlight things that we are thankful for.

I am thankful that Audrey is being such a good sport about wearing her thumb guard. I am so surprised by how much she is able to do with it on and that she doesn't make a big deal about it even when people comment. (Many people think that she has broken her thumb!) The down side is that during naps she is sucking the opposite (right)thumb. It is so much less compared to what she sucks the left. Only to get to sleep not through the entire night and not during the day. Not sure what to do about that yet. Tonight she asked me to put a thumb guard on the right thumb as well. "I need two of them." It is as if she wants to stop can't. :(

I am so thankful that Reuben's second tooth popped through and that he has not had an ear infection or been on antibiotics this week! Happy boy again! I take him to the Dr. on Monday just to get the ears rechecked since he had two in a row. Let's not kid ourselves he is still not doing well at night, but it is so cute because when it wakes up Audrey she yells "Mommy! Reuben needs you!" and then starts singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" which is what she does every time he cries. Jordan and I had to laugh last night. We were laying in bed in the wee hours of the morning we had one kid crying, one kid singing and another sleeping through it all!

I am thankful for all that I got done this week. First, I have been very disciplined with the laundry this week and even got my ironing done! Second, my mom came on Thursday and I knocked a few "big ones" off the list. Reuben's six month pictures (2 months late-oops!)-taken. All clothes that do not fit-in labeled totes. A half-dozen little errands and banking junk-completed. Third, it was my designated day to Christmas shop and even though it was overshadowed by a few other chores I was able to do some damage. I am now the humble holder of a Kohls card. I know that Dave Ramsey would be disappointed, but I saved $30!

I am thankful for the safety that Jordan has had on the road. He has taken a lot of day trips around the state lately and is very busy with work. We are also thankful he has a good job.

I am thankful for the great day that we had. We had Lord's Supper tonight so we had a lazy Sunday morning and afternoon. We ended up rearranging the house and turning the dinging room into a toy room. Time will tell if I am thankful for that or if we move everything back to the original rooms.

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
