Oh Audrey!

Camping story is to come after I get the pictures loaded onto the computer, but first a few little things that I wanted to get written down so that when Audrey has a daughter and is embarrassed of the things that she says I will have something to show her.

My sister came to visit.  She was no more than out of the van when  Audrey looked her up and down and asked "Why aren't you wearing pretty shoes today?"

Later that day we met the son of a neighbor.  He had a little more of a "New York" to him than the farmer or engineer crowd that we tend to hang with.  Audrey noticed this and said to him " I have never seen a guy that looks like you before."  Thankfully he rolled with that one nicely, made  a funny face and said "You mean like this?"

Last week I wore a brown shirt to church.   As we were getting out of the van Audrey said "I like your shirt mom."  I should have said "Thank You!"  But her complement took me off guard because Audrey usually prefers bright color and doesn't like brown.  "Really?" I asked.  "No, not really.  I was just saying that."

I was helping Audrey get ready yesterday.  Afterward I asked if she wanted to see her hair.  (As if I really needed to ask.)  "How does it look?" I asked.  "Great, but my outfit needs some work."

All joking aside, she worries us with her obsession with appearances.  Our neighbor tells us not to worry, but that Audrey's attention to detail will make her a great police detective someday.  (She would be good at that, wouldn't she?)  This was after Audrey pointed out that the neighbor's shoes didn't match!

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
