Humpty Dumpty

Reuben is a climber.  I have been trying to eliminate the things that he has been using as stepping stools lately, but I lost the battle.  Last night I was going to run out for an hour of mommy time.  On my way out the door I started to say, "Jordan!  You've got one on the counter again!" Mid sentence I saw him fall.
I think I screamed louder than he did.  I got Reuben some ibuprofen, and he pretty much sat for the rest of night.  This morning he just wasn't himself.  He was touchy, not as active and kept his right arm very close to his body.  Since he slept through the night and didn't appear to be in constant pain I figured he had a bad sprain something minor, but I knew I should take him in.  Jordan agreed and had to go with since I can't really do x-rays in my condition.
The verdict: Reuben broke both bones in his right arm at his wrist.  They can't do a cast today because of the swelling so he has a splint.  The doctor is pleasantly surprised with how well the splint fits.  We are going to give that a try first instead of a full cast.  Reuben is not so pleasantly surprised by his splint and absolutely hates his sling.
We go back in three weeks to get x-rays taken again to make sure it is healing properly.  We are looking at a healing time of 3-5 weeks if all goes well.

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
