Quote of the Week...

Here are a few sound bites from our world this week.  You pick your favorite.

We had our energy audit this week to see where we can save on heating before the winter.  The man had to run back to his SUV to get a ladder to check the attic.  When he came back the kids were lined up as if they had never seen a ladder before.  He walked in asked "So are you guys trying to keep up with the Duggers or what?"  Yes, we are only 15 behind them, but give us 10 years and we should be close!

As I often do if I have to leave the floor that the kids are on I tell Jonah "I am going to switch the laundry.  Can you keep an eye on Reuben and Audrey for me?"  He likes the power, but I didn't realize how much until this week when I heard him say very seriously to his sister "Did you hear that Audrey?   I am the boss...me, the mayor and the president."  He thinks pretty highly of his position as older brother!

We had a picnic at the airport with friends on Tuesday.  The down side was that President Obama was in town so no planes landed.  The up side was that President Obama was in town so we saw Air Force One take off.  I tried to explain that the plane was taking the President back to Washington DC.  As Audrey often does she digests for a few minutes and then will repeat everything we just talked about back to me.  Her story is that the plane was headed for Washington "Full of presents!"

A Very Late Posting of 1st Day of Enrichment Class!

Yep, enrichment classes started over a month ago and I am just now posting the "First Day of Class" photos.  This year we cut back to just one day.  It is lovely.  Jonah and Audrey are both taking art and science.  Jonah is also taking drama.  I am really curious to see how he does with that because he has been really excited about it.  The back packs are completely unnecessary, but a must for the back to class picture!     Getting Ready to head out!   Miss Poser as she gets ready to go inside!    Way too cool for this   Me too Mom!

A little extra help

I had heard that age 8 was when a mom feels like a child can really help out around the house.  I must have an exceptional child because Jonah has become very helpful at 7 1/2!  :)    I kept asking him to load the washing machine, and then one day I heard it running!  He took it upon himself to start the machine as well.  A couple of quick lessons and he was good to go.  We are working on load size.  At first two shirts constituted a load.  Then after explaining water waste he tried washing every piece of cloth in the house at once.  It was amazing to me how helpful the extra pair of hands has been the last couple weeks.  I am loving that this is still an exciting new chore that he is eager to help with!     I taught him how to make scrambled eggs, and Jonah now thinks he is the scrambled egg master. He would making them twice a day if I would let him.  Egg consumption in our home was high, a...
